CMEC offers Inspection and Accreditation for construction materials testing laboratories in the areas of concrete, aggregate, soils, asphalt binder, hot mix asphalt, cement, and masonry. Click on the links below for more information.

CMEC is now offering laboratory accreditation for ISO/IEC 17025 to Construction Materials Testing Laboratories.  A laboratory interested in obtaining accreditation for ISO/IEC 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Calibration and Testing Laboratories, must also satisfy the requirements of AASHTO R18.  The laboratory must also have implemented, or be implementing, a quality system which satisfies the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. Additionally, to receive ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from CMEC a laboratory must receive an on-site ISO/IEC audit from CMEC.

How To Get Started – A laboratory seeking accreditation for ISO/IEC 17025 must submit an application, along with a copy of its current quality manual and supporting documentation, such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), a copy of its most recent internal audit report, and a copy of the records from its most recent management review. CMEC will contact the laboratory if the quality system is essentially in compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and schedule a date for the initial on-site audit of the laboratory or if additional information is required.
